BQ stands for blood quill- a newer growing feather “in blood”. You will notice that these feathers have longer barbs with more tapered tips than the drabs you find in most shops. BQ Ostrich plumes have the fiber length you need for beast flies and other salty/predator baitfish patterns. They are also great for adding extra mobility to warmwater flies and a great choice for scuds and sowbugs. I hand select these plumes for quality and package them 2-3 per pack so you have plenty of high quality barbs to tie with. Feathers measure roughly 10-14 inches from quill to tip, the fibers are typically in the 3.5-5” range but some barbs measure upwards of 7”.
